In the 80’s, pieces from Keith Haring were already reaching imposing prices. Desirous of making his works affordable and popular (in the literal sense of the term) once again, he created his “Pop Shop”, which opened in Tokyo in 1988. It is a container, which the artist paints both on the inside and the outside, where products derived from his works are sold. Tseng Kwong Chi, one of his close friends who belonged to the same artistic circle than Haring since the start of the 80’s, documents this ephemeral piece through photography.
